The earthquake which has struck Haiti is a test for the capacity of Europe to act outside its borders. Nonetheless this catastrophe has seen a humanitarian response based on a national level. Each Member State is sending its own personnel, its own sniffer dogs, planes etc. This tragedy confronts us once again with the lack of European coordination in the face of humanitarian crises.

New eProcurement framework to lower costs

Parliament could reject SWIFT agreement if no response from Council

At a meeting of Parliament's group leaders today in Brussels, it was noted that no reply has yet been received from the Council following December's letter from President Buzek to the Swedish and Spanish EU Presidencies concerning the proposed agreement on SWIFT data transfers to the US.
