Fewer Winners Drive out in Latest Results

BRUSSELS, 3rd MARCH 2010

Today, Euro NCAP releases the crash test results for five new cars the Citroen Nemo, the Kia Venga, the Nissan Cube, the Seat Exeo and the Toyota Verso. In this latest set of results only one car, the Toyota Verso, receives Euro NCAP’s maximum five star rating. New Euro NCAP rules and further demands in European legislation in 2010, means this year carmakers face even tougher challenges. 

EuropaBio Welcomes Commission Decision to Approve Five GMOs

Today, EuropaBio welcomes the Commission’s important decision regarding the approval of a number of agricultural biotechnology files.

Brussels, 2 March 2010 ‐ A new report by the European Commission on sustainability requirements for the use of solid biomass and biogas in electricity, heaAng and cooling does not recommends the adopAon of binding sustainability criteria. This creates unacceptable economic barriers for other biomass users, such as the biofuels industry, for whom European regulaAon imposes binding sustainability criteria.

Deep concerns about the Commission's rapid concluding of free trade agreement with Peru and Colombia

Calling the Commission's conclusion of free trade talks with Peru and Colombia "a step in a questionable direction", GUE/NGL Trade Committee coordinator Helmut Scholz today said that "the original approach of the EU to conclude trade agreements on the basis of strengthening regional cooperation is deeply damaged by such isolated free trade agreements with just two countries."

European aerospace industry ready to play its full role for a timely implementation of the single european sky
