Europe Needs A True Single Digital Market

Industry call for ensuring that twin pillars of content & infrastructure are appropriately addressed in today’s Digital Agenda for Europe action plan 

(Brussels, 19 May) The European Commission’s plan to accelerate the EU’s single digital market, released today, will need to address commercial challenges to roll out ultra high speed broadband across Europe more quickly and facilitate consumer access to legal content in order to have concrete positive effects on the European economy.

Tomorrow, the European Parliament will vote to adopt revised legislation on the energy labelling of products. Although the new directive will see the use of the well-known Energy Label extended to products other than domestic appliances, the previous message of ‘Buy A’ will be lost as it will be possible for the new label to feature up to three additional classes - A+, A++ and A+++ - depending on the product group.

agreement on the Recast of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
