Eurociett unveils 10 recommendations to unlock the contribution of the agency work industry to reach the Europe 2020 employment targets

Brussels, 23 June 2010 - The deficiencies of the European Labour markets must be addressed urgently if the European economy is to grow in line with the Europe 2020 Strategy, claims Eurociett, the voice of the Agency Work Industry in Europe.

ALDE members call for a balanced free trade agreement with South Korea

ALDE members on Parliament's trade committee today supported a safeguard mechanism which would attenuate the risk of large influxes of Korean cars as part of the free trade agreement concluded between the EU and South Korea.

"The European Parliament and the automobile industry should be able to better control the activation of the safeguard clause in cases of sudden inflows of Korean cars," stated Michael Theurer (FDP, Germany) who is ALDE spokesperson on the agreement.

EFET publishes the new Master DES LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement

The European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET)1 has published today a LNG DES
Master Sale and Purchase Agreement. This agreement represents an industry-wide
compromise, agreed in the Legal Task Force LNG over a period of about one year. The
participants of the EFET Legal Committee, a group with more than 40 representatives
from companies involved in energy trading, endorsed the document unanimously on 18th June 2010.

The DES Master Sale and Purchase Agreement is now ready for use as an EFET

WEEE Recast: Disappointing Environment Committee vote

In its vote yesterday, the European Parliament’s Environment Committee has established its position on the Commission recast proposal for the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). “While the committee under the lead of its Rapporteur, Karl-Heinz Florenz, has in a number of areas taken into account the complexity of the WEEE management process in practice, today’s Committee vote has missed the opportunity to introduce several significant improvements to the Commission proposal”, states Adrian Harris, Director General of Orgalime.

For better regulation on biocides - some gains in EP environment committee vote

Between 2003 and 2005, 15,600 Europeans were poisoned through the use of products containing biocides. Biocides are found in many cleaning products, disinfectants and lots of products intended for everyday use. "The GUE/NGL group wants to see a total ban on these dangerous substances" Sabine Wils, Member of the EP environment committee said after the vote on the new regulation that seeks harmonisation of rules on approving and using biocides.
