13th European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) (October 6 to 9, 2010)

Bad Hofgastein, 24 September 2010 – Expert knowledge in health policy from the EU is in demand outside the Union. The European Health Forum Gastein is a vital hub for the future development of European health policy. This year’s Forum will be the thirteenth so far and will be held from October 6 to 9 in Bad Hofgastein, Austria. For the first time, high-ranking health policy-makers from the Balkan countries and CIS countries will be meeting there to discuss health care systems, policy and reforms.

Martin Kannegiesser elected as new President of the Council of European Employers of the Metal, Engineering and Technology-Based Industries

Rome/Berlin. Today, the general assembly of the European Employers’ Organisation CEEMET elected Martin Kannegiesser, President of the German employers’ associations in the metal and electrical industry GESAMTMETALL, as the new President. He is the successor to Roberto Maglione, vice president of the Italian employers’ association Federmeccanica.

CEEMET response- European Commission Communication on 'A new impetus for european cooperation vet to support the Europe 2020 strategy'

CEEMET welcomes the overall positive messages regarding VET included in the communication on “A new impetus for European cooperation in Vocational Education and Training to support the Europe 2020 Strategy”. While the European Commission acknowledges the role it can play in facilitating cooperation and encouraging modernisation and greater uptake of VET (both iVET and CVET), it also
rightly underlines that this role is mainly to support and supplement the work of national
governments and stakeholders.

Excellence in VET required to support the Europe 2020 Strategy

On 24 September the general assembly of CEEMET, the European employers’ organisations of the metal‐engineering and technology‐based (MET) industries, adopted a declaration putting forward clear priorities for European cooperation in vocational education and training (VET), emphasizing the importance of developing excellence for this pathway. A final report looking into strengthening cooperation between industry and initial VET was also presented at this occasion.
