IRU pushes to further secure and expand TIR

Members from the IRU’s 74 member countries attending the IRU’s General Assembly today saluted the efforts of governments, customs authorities, the IRU and its Members to expand the geographic scope of the TIR System and to further secure its functioning through the implementation of the Real Time SafeTIR AND IRU TIR-EPD applications.

IRU honours outstanding drivers

The IRU Presidential Executive awards prestigious IRU "Diplôme d'honneur" to some 1075 drivers from 29 countries for their excellent driving and safety records.

 

Geneva – On the occasion of the General Assembly of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), the IRU Presidential Executive awarded the IRU “Diplôme d’honneur” to 1075 professional drivers, including 25 taxi drivers, from 29 countries.

IRU rewards best Eurasian hauliers 2010

Geneva – On the occasion of the General Assembly of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), IRU President, Janusz Lacny, presented the 8th IRU awards for the “Best Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Road Transport Operator”, which has now expanded its geographical scope to cover the Eurasian landmass.

Geneva – The IRU General Assembly today adopted a Resolution on driver shortages and strategies for improving their recruitment and retention to counter the resurgent threat of a shortfall in skilled drivers.

First EU Cyber Security Exercise 'Cyber Europe 2010’ with 320 ‘incidents’ successfully concluded

The first ever, pan-European cyber security exercise “Cyber Europe 2010” ended successfully yesterday. More than 150 experts from 70 public bodies around Europe participated in the exercise. They were exposed to more than 320 incidents, or ‘injects’. The exercise was a first key step for strengthening Europe’s cyber defense. The key challenge now is for the Member States to implement the identified ‘lessons-learnt’ during the exercise.
