IRU awards American scientist, Dr Ronald R. Knipling the IRU Order of Merit.

Brussels - The International Road Transport Union (IRU) is pleased to announce that it has awarded the IRU Order of Merit to US Scientist, Ronald R. Knipling, Ph.D. in recognition of his outstanding scientific work on the main causes of accidents involving heavy good vehicles.

COGEN Europe projections show that cogeneration is a foundation element in any scenario leading to a decarbonised energy sector for Europe

BRUSSELS, December 1, 2010 – The first REACH deadline arrived at midnight yesterday. More than 24,000 dossiers have been submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki.

Implementing the first phase of REACH registration has taken a lot of hard work and represented a steep learning curve for the chemical industry. The industry had to tackle complex questions such as the organisation of Substance Information Exchange Forums (SIEFs), which required data and cost sharing, appointing lead registrants and issuing letters of access.

Parliament's Constitutional Affairs committee today approved its report on the draft regulation to set up a European Citizen's Initiative, as foreseen in the Lisbon Treaty.  The change will enable any physical person to address the European Commission with a subject for legislative action as long as it falls within the competences of the Treaties.
