This situation provides Japanese companies with an unfair advantage when responding to tenders in Europe, and is unacceptable. With no competition to face in their home market, such companies are then able to submit highly competitive offers in EU countries, and are supported by the Japanese government to do so.

National PV LEGAL Road show concludes it is time to act!

Brussels, 2 March 2011 – PV LEGAL partners conclude that it is time to act and remove administrative barriers and to ease grid connection processes in Europe. In the past semester the national partners of the PV LEGAL project have organised a road show in 7 EU countries including the organisation of national conferences in Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, France and Poland.

CES Flash: Evros – the European Dream of Many

The plans of the Greek government to build a 12 km wall along its land border with Turkey in the region of Evros as a measure to curb illegal immigration have been received with mixed feelings. Libya: EU countries must stand up and be counted. Simon Busuttil MEP

Addressing the European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee earlier today, Simon Busuttil MEP called on EU countries to stand up and be counted in the face of the tumultuous events taking place in Libya and their likely consequences on Europe's frontiers.

The extraordinary meeting was addressed by the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom, Frontex Executive Director Ilkka Laitenen, Pierre Vimont, Secretary General of the EEAS, and Ambassador Gyorgus on behalf of the Hungarian Presidency.

‘Robert Bosch Fellows’: National journalists trained in Brussels

Six journalists from four countries have been selected for the practical phase of a pilot ‘EU Journalism Fellowship’ scheme. They will spend up to eight weeks in EurActiv’s Brussels Network Office as fellows in a pilot training programme for journalists, devised by Fondation EurActiv PoliTech and supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung. They will be mentored by experienced colleagues in Brussels, where they will gain an insight into EU politics while at the same time report for their home media.
