Global Forum 2011 is taking place on November Monday 7th & Tuesday 8th in Brussels at the Palais d’Egmont, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

This 20th edition is organized in cooperation with Items International and the Sophia Antipolis Foundation with the support of the Belgian Federal Authorities.

The Global Forum 2011 will explore the topic of: «VISION FOR THE DIGITAL FUTURE; Mobilizing Organizations and People for Sustainable Growth».

“Employment quality and service quality go hand in hand”, says CESI secretary general Helmut Müllers. CESI strongly criticizes the Commission’s plan to further deregulate airport ground services. It has been announced that a new legislative package with directives on slots, air security and ground services is to be published by December 1st. “The first steps taken back in the 1990s have shown poor results on the well functioning of airport services”, explains Müllers referring to the ground service liberalization directive of 1996.

Elections will be held in Egypt between November 28 and January 10 and the political campaign already began at the beginning of this month. Television is a crucial battleground – some figures suggest that TV is the main source of information for as many as 97 percent of Egyptians – but personal popularity will also be vital; Egyptians are brought up to vote not for great policy platforms but for the people they know and like.

Today the Industry, Research and Energy Committee of the European Parliament adopted unanimously a draft Motion for a Resolution on the Open Internet and Net Neutrality that reaffirms the crucial role played by competition for the preservation of the open character of the internet. The European Parliament is expected to adopt the text of the Resolution in the November 2011 plenary session.
